What happens when you bring together a group of young, like-minded Tablers from across Europe? An unforgettable weekend in one of the world’s most vibrant cities! Connor from Wigton recently jetted off to Prague for the very first Round Table Youngsters meeting—a gathering designed to connect and inspire the next generation of Round Table members. From epic sightseeing to late-night laughs and game-changing ideas, here’s what went down!

The Birth of Round Table Youngsters 1:-
“What a weekend to remember! Prague played host to an incredible gathering as we chartered and inducted Round Table Youngsters 1—a fresh and exciting club aimed at empowering young tablers. This brilliant initiative, sparked by Bene of Murtal Austria, Federico of Trieste Italy, and Mads of Vordingbor Denmark. It’s all about supporting young members and finding new ways to make Round Table more engaging and accessible to the next generation.”

A Unique Induction & A Morning to Remember
“Saturday morning kicked off with an unforgettable induction ceremony—one that was quite different from what we’re used to at Wigton 394. Safe to say, we may need to step up our game! With a few lingering hangovers from the night before, we powered through and drove straight into business. Thomaz was appointed as Sergeant-at-Arms, while Sam Wyss, the club’s oldest member, took the honour of reading the Aims and Objects of Round Table International.”

Shaping the Future of Round Table
“The heart of our meeting focused on introductions, building connections, and most importantly, brainstorming how to make Round Table more appealing to younger members. One of the most surprising revelations? The way different tables operate across RTI and RTGBI. Unlike RTGBI, many international tables rely entirely on word-of-mouth rather than social media. Some even require a formal speech before a new member is accepted—talk about earning your place! In some cases, tables have had full guest lists for years, making it a real challenge for newcomers to join.”

Breaking Borders – International Travel for Young Tablers
“A major topic of discussion was how we can encourage and facilitate travel for young tablers to experience international events. Thanks to initiatives like the World Lottery and funding from James Edwards, our International Relationship Officer, these opportunities are becoming more accessible. If you're planning to attend an RTI event, make sure to reach out to him—his support is invaluable.”
“This weekend was more than just meetings and discussions—it was about camaraderie, fresh ideas, and setting the foundation for something truly special. Round Table Youngsters 1 is only the beginning, and the future looks incredibly bright!”

Thanks to Connor for this meeting report. He and Sam were the first two inducted members from RTGBI to attend. Both of these young Tablers benefited from Travel funds provided by IRO James Edwards from the Travel Fund budget. You can find out more about the travel funds in this blog post here.
