Community & Fundraising Candidates

Updated: 21 hours ago

We’re thrilled to announce that two fantastic candidates are in the running for your votes this election season! Simon and Matt are both vying to become Round Table GB&I’s next Community and Fundraising Officer, and they’re eager to share their vision for the role and our association.

As part of the application process, each candidate submitted a statement explaining why they’re applying and, most importantly, why they believe they’re the best man for the job.

You can read their statements below. They’ve also recorded campaign videos, which you can watch on the @RTGBI YouTube channel or via the embedded videos below.

In Matt's application, he gave these reasons why he's worthy of your vote:

"I may be relatively new to Table, with just one year under my belt and limited time before I age out, but those very facts drive me to make the most of every moment and leave a lasting impact. My goal is simple: to leave my Table and RTBI stronger than I found them.

In my first year, I successfully registered my Table with the Charity Commission, unlocking significant external grants to support our charity events and member training programs. Beyond that, I’ve begun supporting other clubs in navigating charity registration, and I want to take this to a national level. My vision includes updating RTBI’s charity registration guidance, collaborating with the Charity Commission to simplify processes, and empowering individual Tables to secure vital funding through grants and Gift Aid. Just look at Ringwood’s success—it’s clear that charity registration is an untapped opportunity for many Tables, areas, and RTBI itself.

"But I’m not just a bureaucrat filling out forms. I’m an active member of Mold & Buckley, regularly attending business meetings, socials, and events. I’m proud to serve on the committee for NSW 2025 and will be at the AGM in Cardiff. I’ve embraced the global side of Table too, attending the Euromeet in Ystad (where I inherited the 2025 chair) and planning to join the HYM in Cyprus this year.

"Professionally, I work for a membership organisation with nearly 150,000 members, giving me first-hand experience in supporting clubs and tackling the challenges they face. I believe RTBI’s Board should guide and empower every member to access the incredible opportunities Table offers—locally, nationally, and internationally.

I’m ready to bring energy, experience, and a clear vision to the role of National Fundraising and Community Officer to help unlock Table’s full potential for everyone."

Simon is of course equally excited to attract your vote, in his application he tells us:

"I believe that I am a suitable candidate for this role because I am driven by a desire to help other tables thrive and grow, not only in numbers but also in the extent to which they can help others.

"Our collective strength lies in our ability to make a difference, and I want to make sure that every table feels empowered to reach its full potential. My experience with Melton Mowbray Roundtable has been a formative one. Through my involvement, I have had the privilege of liaising with various charities, learning how to collaborate effectively, build relationships, and maximize our impact. These experiences have equipped me with skills that I am confident will hold me in good stead as I take on new challenges and responsibilities.

"One of the values I hold most is reliability. I do not believe in letting people down. If there is a job to do, I will see it through. I understand the importance of delivering on promises, and I am committed to ensuring that every task I undertake is completed to the highest standard.

"I am here to uplift, and to help our tables continue making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can achieve incredible things. Thank you for considering me for this opportunity."
